March is a month of reflection, celebration, and recognition—an opportunity to honor the contributions of women throughout history and uplift the voices shaping the present and future. Women’s History Month is a time to acknowledge the trailblazers who have fought for progress, the creatives who have expressed their truths through art, and the everyday women whose resilience and strength continue to inspire generations.
Within this month, we also recognized International Women’s Day (March 8th)—a global call to action for gender equality, empowerment, and appreciation of the achievements of women worldwide. This year’s theme, “Inspire Inclusion,” reminds us that creating a more just and equitable world starts with valuing and uplifting the diverse experiences of women across all backgrounds.
Women as Creators, Healers, and Changemakers
Women have long used creativity as a tool for self-expression, healing, and activism. From Frida Kahlo’s bold and deeply personal paintings to Maya Angelou’s poetry that echoed strength and resilience, art has been a powerful medium for storytelling and change. Whether through painting, writing, music, or movement, women continue to use their voices to challenge injustice, redefine beauty, and create spaces for healing.
Therapeutic art, in particular, has been a transformative practice for many women, providing a way to process emotions, heal from trauma, and reclaim personal power. In my own work as an art coach and mental health advocate, I have seen firsthand how creativity helps women reconnect with their inner strength, find balance, and express what words sometimes cannot.
Ways to Celebrate Women’s History Month & International Women’s Day
This month is not only about honoring the past but also about celebrating and supporting the women around us. Here are some ways to embrace the spirit of Women’s History Month:
1. Support Women-Owned Businesses & Creators
– Invest in female entrepreneurs, artists, and makers. Every purchase, share, and word of encouragement helps uplift women in business and creative industries.
2. Express Yourself Through Art & Reflection
– Use creative outlets to honor your own journey as a woman or to celebrate the women who inspire you. Try journaling, painting, or making a collage that reflects strength, growth, and empowerment.
3. Engage in Conversations & Advocacy
– Educate yourself and others on women’s rights, intersectionality, and the challenges that still exist today. Share resources, have open discussions, and advocate for positive change in your community.
4. Honor the Women Who Inspire You
– Take time to thank the women in your life who have supported, guided, or uplifted you. A simple message, handwritten note, or heartfelt conversation can make a lasting impact.
A Reminder to Celebrate Yourself
If you are a woman reading this, let this month be a reminder of your worth, your strength, and your brilliance. You are a part of this history—whether through the work you do, the love you give, or the dreams you are bringing to life. Your journey matters. Your voice matters. You matter.
Let’s celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day with intention, creativity, and a commitment to supporting one another. Together, we rise, create, and pave the way for a more inclusive and empowered future.
